Biography
He has written more than fourteen complete copies of the Qur'an by hand.
Born in the countryside of Aleppo in 1934, he studied under several master calligraphers and received his ijaza (calligraphy licence) from Hamid al-Amidi in 1973. He earned a licence in Sharia from Damascus University (1964) and joined the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an in Madinah in 1988. Saudi Arabia granted him citizenship in 2021 in recognition of his work.
