Bashar Alhroub is a Palestinian artist, born in Jerusalem in 1978, who grew up in Hebron and lives and works in Ramallah.
Biography
He received a BA in fine arts from An-Najah National University in 2001 and, with a Ford Foundation fellowship, completed an MFA at the Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, in 2010. Working across photography, video, installation, drawing, printmaking, and painting, he explores questions of place, identity, and belonging shaped by the social and political conditions of his community. In 2012 he received the Grand Prize at the 15th Asian Art Biennale in Bangladesh, and his work has been shown at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, the Arab World Institute in Paris, and the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, among other venues.
